Acute Administration of Metformin Protects Against Neuronal Apoptosis Induced by Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury via Regulation of the AMPK/CREB/BDNF Pathway

Ke Liu et al.

Summary: This research investigated the effect and mechanism of metformin in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. The results showed that metformin protected against cerebral I/R injury by upregulating BDNF expression and activating the AMPK/CREB pathway.

Protective Effect of Nimodipine Against Valproic-acid Induced Biochemical and Behavioral Phenotypes of Autism

Hariom Kumar et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of nimodipine on behavior and biochemistry in prenatal valproic acid-induced autism in rats. The results showed that nimodipine attenuated the reduction in social behavior, inflammation, and blood brain barrier permeability induced by prenatal valproic acid administration, suggesting its potential in the treatment of autism.

Saikosaponin A improved depression -like behavior and inhibited hippocampal neuronal apoptosis after cerebral ischemia through p-CREB/BDNF pathway

An-rong Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that Saikosaponin A can significantly alleviate depressive-like behavior in rats after cerebral ischemia, by regulating the expression of BDNF, p-CREB, and Bcl-2, lowering levels of Bax and Caspase-3, and inhibiting neuronal apoptosis in the hippocampus. Therefore, Saikosaponin A may improve depressive symptoms and inhibit neuronal apoptosis by modulating the expression of these molecules.

γ-Glutamylcysteine Alleviates Ischemic Stroke-Induced Neuronal Apoptosis by Inhibiting ROS-Mediated Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

Hui-qin Li et al.

Summary: Ischemic stroke is a severe neurological disorder with limited therapeutic options, and oxidative stress is a critical factor in the ischemia/reperfusion injury process. This study explored the neuroprotective effects of gamma-glutamylcysteine (gamma-GC) on neuronal apoptosis and brain injury in ischemic stroke. The results showed that gamma-GC treatment mitigated oxidative stress, decreased neuronal apoptosis, and attenuated brain injury in ischemic conditions.

Spata2 Knockdown Exacerbates Brain Inflammation via NF-κB/P38MAPK Signaling and NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation in Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Rats

Yikun Ren et al.

Summary: SPATA2 co-localizes with CYLD in neurons and its expression is reduced in tMCAO/R rats. Knockdown of Spata2 results in exacerbated inflammatory responses, suggesting a potential protective role against brain inflammation.
