Morphological changes in the experimental model of polycystic ovary syndrome and effects of vitamin D treatment

Arfa Azhar et al.

Summary: This research aimed to develop an animal model of PCOS by inducing it with DHEA and observe the reproductive and morphological changes after treatment with vitamin D. The results showed significant weight gain, obesity, and estrous irregularity in the PCOS group compared to the control and vitamin D-treated group, indicating that administration of vitamin D improved cycle characteristics and reduced body weight in PCOS-induced animals.

Oxidative Stress and Low-Grade Inflammation in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Controversies and New Insights

Antonio Mancini et al.

Summary: The pathophysiology of PCOS involves complex mechanisms such as obesity, insulin-resistance, oxidative stress, and low-grade inflammation, which may lead to obesity, insulin resistance, vitamin D deficiency, and immune dyscrasia. These factors can interact and exacerbate each other's effects, suggesting an inverse interaction from the traditional understanding.

Summary: The study showed that vitamin D administration can improve the manifestation of letrozole-induced PCOS in female rats, with positive effects on biochemical metabolic and oxidative stress markers, but only partially improved coronary vasculopathy.

Role of 14-3-3β protein on ovarian folliculogenesis, steroidogenesis and its correlation in the pathogenesis of PCOS in mice

Shatrudhan Upadhyay et al.

Summary: This study examined the levels of 14-3-3 beta protein in the circulation and ovaries of PCOS mice, finding a correlation between this protein and increased testosterone and insulin levels in PCOS. 14-3-3 beta protein was shown to play a role in increasing testosterone synthesis while decreasing insulin sensitivity, potentially contributing to PCOS pathogenesis.

A multi-omics investigation of the composition and function of extracellular vesicles along the temporal trajectory of COVID-19

Sin Man Lam et al.

Summary: This study analyzed exosome-enriched extracellular vesicles from patients at different stages of COVID-19, highlighting dysregulated lipid metabolism in the hyperinflammatory phase and distinct metabolic and transcriptional responses triggered by EVs from different temporal phases in recipient cells. The results provide insights into cellular lipid metabolism and inter-tissue crosstalk at different stages of COVID-19 and contribute to understanding metabolic dysregulation in COVID-19.

Altered vitamin D3 metabolism in the ovary and periovarian adipose tissue of rats with letrozole-induced PCOS

Malgorzata Grzesiak et al.

Summary: In this study, differences in VD3 metabolism in the ovary and periovarian adipose tissue of PCOS rats were investigated. The reduced concentration of 1,25(OH)(2)D-3 in these tissues suggest their involvement in VD3 deficiency in PCOS and potential implications in PCOS pathogenesis.
