Changes in corneal thickness, corneal volume, and densitometry after long-term orthokeratology wear

Yue Evelyn Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in corneal volume, densitometry, and pachymetry in young myopes wearing orthokeratology contact lenses. The results showed a significant increase in corneal volume and densitometry after lens wear, while there was no significant change in central corneal thickness.

Long-term changes in the ocular surface during orthokeratology lens wear and their correlations with ocular discomfort symptoms

Caiyuan Xie et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in ocular surface parameters during orthokeratology lens wear and determine their correlations with ocular discomfort symptoms. The results showed that ocular surface disease index score and vision-related function score significantly increased at 3 months of lens wear, and then decreased to baseline levels at 12 months. Tear-related visual function parameters were found to be correlated with ocular discomfort.

Myopia Control With Orthokeratology: A Review

Takahiro Hiraoka

Summary: Orthokeratology (OK) is considered to be one of the most effective optical treatments for myopia control, with studies showing that it can slow myopia progression in school-aged children. The inhibitory effect on axial elongation for 2 years has been reported to be from 32% to 63%, as compared with single-vision spectacles and contact lenses. Long-term studies of up to 10 years have confirmed its efficacy and acceptable safety. However, the rebound phenomenon in myopia progression after OK discontinuation and the optimal treatment duration are still unclear. Further research with longer follow-up periods and diverse populations is needed.

The Effects of 0.01% Atropine on Adult Myopes' Contrast Sensitivity

Ziyun Cheng et al.

Summary: The study found that using low-concentration atropine eye drops to treat myopia did not have significant deleterious effects on contrast sensitivity in patients in both short-term and long-term periods.

The Spatial Distribution of Relative Corneal Refractive Power Shift and Axial Growth in Myopic Children: Orthokeratology Versus Multifocal Contact Lens

Fan Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that the spatial distribution of the relative corneal refractive power shift plays a significant role in myopia control. Corneal reshaping induced less axial length elongation compared to multifocal soft contact lenses, indicating that contact lenses inducing RCRPS closer to the corneal center may have a better effect on myopia control.
