Risk factors and abnormal cerebrospinal fluid associate with cognitive symptoms after mild COVID-19

Summary: This study evaluated 22 adults reporting cognitive PASC symptoms and 10 individuals not reporting cognitive symptoms after mild SARS-CoV-2 infection. The results found that delayed onset of cognitive PASC was more common in younger patients and that cognitive PASC participants had a higher number of pre-existing cognitive risk factors. Furthermore, cognitive PASC participants had a higher proportion of abnormal findings in their cerebrospinal fluid compared to the control group.

Fatigue and cognitive impairment in Post-COVID-19 Syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: Post-COVID-19 syndrome, characterized by persistent symptoms after resolution of acute infection, is associated with significant fatigue and cognitive impairment. This study aimed to quantify the proportion of individuals experiencing fatigue and cognitive impairment 12 or more weeks after COVID-19 diagnosis, and to explore the inflammatory and functional consequences of post-COVID-19 syndrome. The results showed that a significant proportion of individuals continue to experience fatigue and cognitive impairment even after 12 or more weeks of COVID-19 diagnosis. Additionally, some individuals showed elevated levels of inflammatory markers and significant functional impairment.

The Quality of Life of Coronavirus Disease Survivors Living in Rural and Urban Area of Riau Province, Indonesia

Summary: This study assesses the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among coronavirus survivors in rural and urban areas of Riau province, Indonesia. The results show that the HRQOL of COVID-19 survivors in rural areas is significantly lower than in urban areas. Living in rural areas, being female, having comorbidities, and a history of symptomatic COVID-19 infection are identified as significant predictors for lower quality of life, while having received full vaccination is a significant predictor for a better quality of life.
