Acid-induced improvement of photosensitizing efficiency of porphyrins under heterogeneous aqueous conditions: High photosensitizing activity, dissociative stability and photooxidative durability

Farzaneh Qodrati-nasrabadi et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of new photosensitizers were prepared by electrostatically supporting Meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-3-yl)porphyrin (H2TMPyP) on the sodium salt of amberlyst 15 nanoparticles (nanoAmbSO3Na) and protonating with weak and strong carboxylic acids. The protonated nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(HA)2 showed high photocatalytic activity and oxidative stability, regardless of the type and strength of the acid used for diprotonation. Among them, nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(CF3COOH)2 and nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(CH2ClCOOH)2 exhibited the highest catalytic efficiency in the oxidation of methyl phenyl sulfide.

Iron(III) Complexation with Galactodendritic Porphyrin Species and Hydrocarbons' Oxidative Transformations

Kelly A. D. F. Castro et al.

Summary: The study synthesized new iron(III) porphyrin complexes and solid hybrid materials by modifying the porphyrin structure, and investigated their catalytic performance in the oxidation of organic substrates. The results demonstrate that the selectivity and efficiency of the catalytic system can be modulated by the choice and complexity of metalloporphyrins, while the presence of galactose dendrimer units can adjust the oxidation positions of linear alkanes.
