Structural, Thermal and Physical Properties of the Calcium Borovanadate Glasses Belonging to the 40CaO-(60-x)B2O3-xV2O5 System

Ayoub Kaaouass et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structure, thermal, and physical properties of calcium borovanadate glasses with different vanadium concentrations. The glasses were found to be amorphous according to powder X-ray diffraction. The addition of V2O5 resulted in changes in density and molar volume, which were attributed to structural changes in the glass matrix. Analysis using infrared and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of BO4 and BO3 units with four and five coordinated vanadium in all glasses containing V2O5.

Boosted electron-transfer/separation of SnO2/CdSe/Bi2S3 heterostructure for excellent photocatalytic degradation of organic dye pollutants under visible light

Mehar Un Nisa et al.

Summary: The discharge of hazardous pollutants from industries into drinking water is a significant global issue. In this study, a SnO2/CdSe/Bi2S3 nanocomposite photocatalyst was synthesized and characterized for its excellent photodegradation performance. The results showed that the nanocomposite catalyst exhibited efficient degradation of various organic dyes under visible light, and it had superior reusability. The improved photocatalytic activity of the catalyst was attributed to its narrow energy bandgap, high charge carrier mobility, and heterostructure formation. Therefore, this research is of great importance for water purification applications.

Role of zinc sulfate on thermal and mechanical properties of borovanadate glasses

N. Sivasankara Reddy

Summary: Zinc sulfate doped boro-vanadate glasses were successfully synthesized using the melt quenching method. The glass's amorphous nature and uniformity were verified through X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The physical properties of the glass were affected by the zinc sulfate content, with decreased ultrasound velocities, elastic moduli, and Debye temperature, and increased Poisson's ratio. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed the presence of specific structural units in the glass.
