Surface functionalization of magnetic graphene oxide@bentonite with & alpha; -amylase enzyme as a novel bionanosorbent for effective removal of Rhodamine B and Auramine O dyes

Mohamed E. Mahmoud et al.

Summary: Rhodamine B (Rhd-B) and Auramine O (Aur-O) dyes, commonly used in industries such as textile and food, have a detrimental impact on water sources and human health. The development of the novel bionanosorbent MagGO@Bentonite@-amylase, modified with bentonite and iron oxide nanoparticles, shows high removal efficiency for these dyes. The adsorption kinetics follows the pseudo-second-order model and the best-described isotherm models are the Linear Freundlich model for (Rhd-B) and the Langmuir model for (Aur-O).

Electrochemically enhanced adsorption of organic dyes from aqueous using a freestanding metal-organic frameworks/cellulose-derived porous monolithic carbon foam

Qingling Zhang et al.

Summary: This study proposed a novel monolithic porous carbon foam as freestanding electrodes for efficient removal of organic dyes. The prepared carbon foam derived from waste cigarette filters and zeolitic-imidazolate frameworks-8 exhibited well-developed pores and a high surface area, demonstrating outstanding removal efficiency for methylene blue in aqueous environments. Furthermore, the as-prepared carbon foams showed excellent stability with a removal efficiency above 85% after 5 cycles.

Elimination of neonicotinoids by ozone-based advanced oxidation processes: Kinetics and performance in real water matrices

Francisco J. Real et al.

Summary: This study investigates the elimination of neonicotinoid insecticides in water through ozone-based oxidation treatments. It is found that certain neonicotinoids can be partially degraded by ozone, with the degradation efficiency depending on the pH value and water constituents. Furthermore, advanced oxidation processes combining ozone with hydrogen peroxide or activated carbon show better performance in neonicotinoid removal compared to ozone alone.
