Synthesis, application, and characteristics of mesoporous alumina as a support of promoted Ni-Co bimetallic catalysts in steam reforming of methane

Sara Zolghadri et al.

Summary: In this research, mesoporous alumina synthesized from sol-gel self-assembly (EISA) procedure was used as a supporting material for bimetallic Ni-Co active sites in the steam reforming of methane (SRM) reaction for the first time. The performance of different catalysts with various Ni/Co mass ratios were tested and 10Ni-10Co exhibited the highest CH4 conversion of 95.7 % and H2 yield of 96.2 %. Loading the catalyst with 1 wt% CeO2 particles further improved its performance with an average CH4 conversion of 97.0 %, H2 yield of 98.8 %, H2/CO molar ratio of 4.0, and CO2/CH4 molar ratio of 0.3 at 700 degrees C.

Integrated CO2 capture and In-Situ methanation by efficient dual functional Li4SiO4@Ni/CeO2

Zongze Lv et al.

Summary: Integrated carbon capture and utilization by methanation (ICCU-methanation) is achieved using a dual functional material (DFM) constructed with Li4SiO4 as sorbent and catalyst carrier, CeO2 as catalyst promoter and isolator, and Ni as catalytic metal. The developed DFM exhibits a high and stable CO2 capacity, high CO2 conversion, and high CH4 selectivity. Additionally, rapid CO2 dissociation from the DFM is observed at a temperature lower than 560 degrees C.

Tuning Metal-Support Interactions on Ni/Al2O3 Catalysts to Improve Catalytic Activity and Stability for Dry Reforming of Methane

Lulu He et al.

Summary: Increasing the calcination temperature of nickel-based catalysts on alumina leads to the formation of nickel-alumina spinel, enhancing metal-support interaction and reducing temperature. It also decreases nickel nanoparticle size and increases effective dispersion due to the formation of nickel aluminate. The catalyst calcined at 750 degrees C shows the highest conversion rates in methane dry reforming and excellent stability in a 200 h test.

Hydrogen Production through Autothermal Reforming of Ethanol: Enhancement of Ni Catalyst Performance via Promotion

Ekaterina Matus et al.

Summary: In this study, autothermal reforming of bioethanol over promoted Ni/Ce0.8La0.2O1.9 catalysts was used to develop carbon-neutral hydrogen production technologies. By adjusting the nanostructure and reducibility of the catalysts through various types and contents of promoters, the researchers determined the correlation between composition characteristics and catalytic activity. It was found that the type and content of promoters, as well as the preparation method, significantly impact the redox properties of catalysts and ultimately influence hydrogen yield in the ATR process.

Preparation of Eggshell-Type Ru/Al2O3 Catalysts for Hydrogen Production Using Steam-Methane Reforming on PEMFC

Jong-Heon Lee et al.

Summary: Ru-based eggshell-type catalysts prepared by impregnation method are suitable for steam-methane reforming, with Ru only supported on the external region of the pellet. The distribution and thickness of the Ru layer in the catalyst can affect the activity and stability.
