Disease Activity and Health-Related Quality of Life Among Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis With Different Alcohol Consumption Habits

Lars Alfredsson et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between alcohol consumption and disease activity, disease progression, and health-related quality of life in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The findings showed that non-drinkers had higher disease activity and more severe pain compared to drinkers. Furthermore, non-drinkers at 1 year of follow-up reported worse disease outcomes and lower health-related quality of life. These results suggest a dose-dependent association between alcohol consumption and better disease outcomes in RA patients.
