Factors Influencing the Renewable Energy Consumption in Selected European Countries

Jan Polcyn et al.

Summary: The study examines the link between renewable energy consumption and economic advancement, analyzing data from European countries. The results show a positive relationship between the share of renewable energy consumption and GDP per capita, as well as CO2 emissions per capita. Factors such as total labor force, gross capital formation, and production-based CO2 intensity were found to be inversely related to renewable energy consumption. These findings provide insights for policymakers aiming to promote sustainable economic development.

Heat potential, generation, recovery and utilization from composting: A review

Shiyang Fan et al.

Summary: Composting is an effective process for treating organic solid waste, and the interest in recovering and reusing heat from composting is growing. Current literature reviews inadequately address engineering aspects such as heat estimation, recovery, and utilization, so this study aims to fill this knowledge gap by providing methods for calculating heat potential, estimating heat production, and recovering generated heat. The study also summarizes the utilization of generated heat and identifies challenges and future research outlooks in this area.

Dataset for a full-year time series characterization of separately collected organic fraction of municipal solid waste from rural and urban regions in Germany

Gregor Sailer et al.

Summary: This article presents year-round data on the chemical composition of organic fractions of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) from rural and urban origins in Tubingen, southern Germany. The data can be used by researchers, waste management companies, and municipalities for comparing and expanding their own OFMSW data, calculating energy yields of OFMSW in anaerobic digestion, and evaluating material utilization of OFMSW-based digestates and compost products.
