Employer Responses to Poaching on Employee Productivity: The Mediating Role of Organizational Agility in Technology Companies

Miao Li et al.

Summary: This study examines the influence of an organization's response to poaching on employee productivity, considering the mediating role of organizational agility, contributing to sustainability literature. Data was collected from companies in the Pakistani service sector through a survey-based approach to understand sustainable human resource practices in developing countries. Regression analysis revealed significant relationships between predictor variables and employee productivity. Model 1 found a significant negative relationship between constructive response (CR) and productivity, while defensive response (DR) showed a positive and significant association with productivity. Model 2 improved the fit by introducing organizational agility as a predictor variable, demonstrating a positive and significant relationship between productivity and all four predictor variables. The study suggests that the positive relationship between organizational agility and productivity may be due to agile organizations being better at responding to market changes and demands, leading to improved performance. This study provides valuable insights into the impact of an organization's response to poaching on employee productivity, considering the mediating role of organizational agility.

How to Synergize Different Institutional Logics of Firms in Cross-border Acquisitions: A Matching Theory Perspective

Cong Cheng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the question of whose institutional logics should dominate the control in cross-border acquisitions, using the case of Geely, a Chinese automaker, and its successful acquisition of Volvo from Sweden. It finds that matching commercial and social logic is crucial to cope with external institutional pressures in cross-border acquisitions. The study reveals that the structured interaction between compatibility and complementarity facilitates the matching process between commercial logic and social logic, leading to a synergistic logic through compatibility, complementarity, and co-evolution mechanisms. This challenges previous research that focuses on conflicts as the main drivers of institutional logic transformation.
