A coupled novel framework for assessing vulnerability of water resources using hydrochemical analysis and data-driven models

Abu Reza Md Towfiqul Islam et al.

Summary: This research constructed a new framework technique for assessing vulnerability of water resources by using hydrochemical properties and data-driven models. The study focused on freshwater-scarce coastal plains and found that regions with higher vulnerability were affected by salinity, NO3-, F- and As pollution in groundwater. The Random Forest model outperformed others in identifying vulnerable zones with high accuracy.

Assessment and Evaluation of IWRM Implementation in Palawan, Philippines

Jennifer C. Cacal et al.

Summary: According to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 6), the Philippines is committed to sustainably managing water resources through integrated water resource management (IWRM). However, there is currently a lack of consolidated data on the implementation of IWRM at the sub-national level. This study focuses on Palawan Province and finds that while there are existing water management schemes, their full potential is hindered by various constraints.

Study on Comprehensive Evaluation of Urban Water Resource Vulnerability

Wenjie Xu et al.

Summary: An evaluation index system of urban water resource vulnerability has been constructed using the improved analytic hierarchy process and entropy weight method. This study assessed the water resource vulnerability in Jinan and found that it showed a fluctuating trend, but overall, there was a gradual reduction. The findings suggest that by further reforming the industrial structure and improving water resource management measures, the water resource vulnerability grade can be reduced.

Comprehensive weight method based on game theory for identify critical transmission lines in power system

Darui Zhu et al.

Summary: The method identifies critical transmission lines in power system by constructing a topological model and deriving three indexes to assess line importance from global topological structure, line operation parameters, and local line connection. These indexes are integrated into a line comprehensive index using a comprehensive weight method based on game theory to evaluate line importance comprehensively.

Irrigation water pricing policies and water resources management

Fakeha Parween et al.

Summary: Due to water being a state subject in India, there is a significant variation in irrigation water pricing across states, leading to suboptimal revenue collection. It is suggested to establish a statutory body to manage water resources and pricing and rationalize and simplify the current revenue assessment and collection mechanisms before implementing a volumetric pricing system. Additionally, an appropriate power tariff policy for rural areas and inclusion of the irrigation sector in a groundwater conservation fee are necessary.
