Financial analysis effect on management performance in the Korean logistics industry

Seung Wook Jang et al.

Summary: This study aims to contribute to the stable growth of the logistics industry by analyzing the differences in financial structures within the Korean logistics industry and their impact on management performance. The research results suggest that different types of logistics businesses have varying financial factors affecting their return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE), requiring targeted management improvement efforts to enhance financial soundness. Therefore, recognizing and addressing major financial factors affecting performance according to business type is crucial for preemptive measures such as improving management efficiency and profits, as well as diversifying the business portfolio.

Planning and design of intermodal hub networks: A literature review

Mario Jose Basallo-Triana et al.

Summary: Intermodal transportation is crucial in modern transportation systems, with a focus on designing efficient and low-cost networks. This paper reviews over 100 recent papers on intermodal network design from a hub location perspective, highlighting the lack of realism in current models in simulating internal factors. Future research directions in modeling realistic intermodal transportation systems are provided.

Research on optimal hub location of agricultural product transportation network based on hierarchical hub-and-spoke network model

Min Wang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on optimizing the location of hubs in agricultural product transportation network using a genetic algorithm with two layers of chromosome coding. Through sensitivity analysis, it was found that decreasing cost loss rate could reduce total transportation cost, increase the number of hubs, and raise the ratio of hub cost to total transportation network cost. The results show a 16.73% reduction in total cost compared to direct routing transport, demonstrating the effectiveness of the model in improving agricultural products transportation efficiency.

Hub-and-Spoke Logistics Network Considering Pricing and Co-Opetition

Jian Zhou et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the hub-and-spoke logistics network design from the perspective of duopoly logistics enterprises, considering the relationship between service pricing and co-opetition, and concludes that co-opetition is a better choice than complete competition and perfect cooperation when considering corporate profit and implementation difficulty.

Location of Urban Logistics Spaces (ULS) for Two-Echelon Distribution Systems

Jose Ruiz-Meza et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a bi-objective mixed linear integer programming model to determine urban logistics spaces for the configuration of urban distribution systems, taking into account factors such as heterogeneous transport, speed assignment, and time windows. Through experimental evaluation and case study, the effectiveness of the model is validated, providing decision-makers with solutions for defining ULS network configurations.
