Allocation of renewable resources with radial distribution network reconfiguration using improved salp swarm algorithm

Rahim Fathi et al.

Summary: This paper presents an optimal and simultaneous allocation of photovoltaic panel (PV) and wind turbine (WT) with the reconfiguration of radial distribution networks. The improved salp swarm algorithm (ISSA) is used for optimization and it is implemented on IEEE 33 and 69 bus distribution networks. The results show that ISSA can find the optimal location and size of renewable units and achieve the best network configuration.

Direct Sliding Mode Control for Dynamic Instabilities in DC-Link Voltage of Standalone Photovoltaic Systems with a Small Capacitor

Ibrahim Al-Wesabi et al.

Summary: Large electrolytic capacitors used for power decoupling in photovoltaic applications have a short lifetime and are unreliable. Film capacitors offer better reliability and longer lifetime but have a lower capacitance, causing frequency ripples on the DC-link voltage and affecting system performance. This research proposes novel direct sliding mode controllers for managing the DC-link voltage with a small capacitor, improving system performance.

Evaluation of temporal resolution impact on power fluctuations and self-consumption for a hydrokinetic on grid system using supercapacitors

Antonio Cano et al.

Summary: This article evaluates the power smoothing of a renewable hydrokinetic on-grid system using a supercapacitor to mitigate power fluctuations caused by weather conditions. The impact of data sampling resolution on self-consumption is also studied. Simulation results show significant reduction in power peaks and fluctuations using the supercapacitor-based storage system, as well as an increase in self-consumption for different temporal resolutions.
