Thermal Behavior of Ceramic Bodies Based on Estonian Clay from the Arumetsa Deposit with Oil Shale Ash and Clinker Dust Additives

Tiit Kaljuvee et al.

Summary: The thermal behavior of clay samples from Hungary and Estonia was studied using thermal and thermo-dilatometric analysis methods. The results showed that water and other compounds were released at different temperatures, and oxidation, dehydroxylation, and decomposition were the main mechanisms involved. The addition of new types of oil shale ashes and cement bypass dust affected the thermal behavior of the clays.

A Review of the Use of Natural Fibers in Cement Composites: Concepts, Applications and Brazilian History

Diego Lilargem Rocha et al.

Summary: The use of natural lignocellulosic fibers in cementitious composites has great potential, and Brazil, as a major producer of natural fibers, has made innovation and advancements in this field. The source, proportion of natural polymers, density, and mechanical characteristics of lignocellulosic fibers are key factors determining the final properties of the composites. Vegetable fibers have a lower density and lower tensile and flexural strength compared to synthetic fibers. The interface treatment between fibers and the composite matrix affects the bonding and final characteristics of the cementitious composites.
