Geometric Distribution and Earthquake Rupture Characteristics of the Northern Anqiu-Juxian Fault in the Tan-Lu Fault Zone, Eastern China

Haomin Ji et al.

Summary: Based on the investigation and research, we have gained some understanding of the surface rupture characteristics of the Northern Anqiu-Juxian Fault (NAJF) during the earthquake in 70 BC. The rupture length of the earthquake was estimated to be about 130 km, with a characteristic offset of about 5 m along the fault. Geophysical exploration results also revealed the distribution of stepovers in the shallow part of the fault. Based on these findings, the magnitude of the earthquake was likely around 7.5.

Interseismic Fault Coupling and Slip Rate Deficit on the Central and Southern Segments of the Tanlu Fault Zone Based on Anhui CORS Measurements

Tingye Tao et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the velocity field in the central and southern segments of the Tanlu fault zone using GPS data and found lateral variation of coupling distribution along the strike. The northern segment of the Tanlu fault zone has a larger slip rate deficit and a deeper locking depth than the southern segment.

Impact of Tohoku-Oki 3.11 M9.0 Earthquake on the Fault Slip Potential of the Active Quaternary Faults in Beijing City: New Insights from In Situ Stress Monitoring Data

Yulu Fan et al.

Summary: Based on the analysis of in situ stress monitoring data, this study investigates the adjustment of the in situ stress field in the Beijing Plain after the Tohoku-Oki 3.11 M9.0 earthquake and its impact on the stability of faults. The results show that the tectonic environment of the Beijing Plain rapidly changed after the earthquake and has not fully recovered to its pre-earthquake state. The stress accumulation level of faults increased shortly after the earthquake and gradually decreased. Most of the main faults in the current stress field have a low fault slip potential, with high potential areas concentrated in the central and southeastern parts of the Beijing Plain where the five faults intersect.
