The significance of employee behaviours and soft management practices to avoid digital waste during a digital transformation

Jamila Alieva et al.

Summary: This study investigates the perceived effects of soft management practices, employee behaviors, and the implementation of digital technologies in manufacturing plants, as well as their relation to the emergence of digital waste. The findings suggest that digital transformation positively influences several variables, such as management leadership and employee education, but also negatively affects others, including turnover intention and proactivity. The study also highlights the influence of soft management practices and employee behaviors on the digital transformation process itself, and identifies potential digital waste creation in certain areas, such as reward and recognition and training employees.

Davorin Cimermancic et al.

Summary: Transforming a traditional company into a lean one is a complex and time-consuming process, which requires a step-by-step approach and the guidance of a lean agent. Portfolio analysis is used as a measure of leanness, and active workshops and employee interviews are the main working methods applied in the procedure. The outlined procedure has been tested on a Slovenian company, showing the importance of outlining the existing situation, following the lean steps, and observing the final result after the transition.

Assessment of readiness level for implementing lean six sigma in healthcare organization using fuzzy logic approach

V. Vaishnavi et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the readiness level for the implementation of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) in healthcare using a fuzzy logic approach. By developing an assessment model with 5 enablers, 16 criteria, and 48 attributes, the study identifies the readiness level for LSS implementation in a medium-size hospital from India. The study provides insights for healthcare managers to improve organizational readiness and successfully implement LSS by identifying weaker attributes and taking necessary corrective actions.

A fuzzy-based leanness evaluation model for manufacturing organisations

M. A. Amin et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an effective leanness measurement model using the triangular linguistic fuzzy membership function and demonstrates its effectiveness through a case study. The organization's leanness value improved from 0.12 to 0.19 after implementing lean tools, with the optimum leanness value calculated to be 0.64. These quantitative leanness values provide an indication of the impacts of improvement initiatives on the overall leanness level, which was highly beneficial according to the case organization.
