Hierarchical self-assembly of polyphenolic functionalized magnetic superstructure for enhanced removal of organic dyes

Xin Jin et al.

Summary: The development strategies for multifunctional nanocomposite systems have been explored through chemical synthesis, physical doping, and assembly. However, the complicated preparation processes and conditions limit their applications. In this study, a versatile polyphenolic magnetic core-satellite superstructure (PfMCSP) was nano-engineered using a fast self-assembly method. It exhibited high equilibrium adsorption capacity and ultrafast adsorption of organic dyes through multiple interactions. Additionally, it effectively removed organic dyes through photo-catalysis and Fenton reaction synergistic, showing potential for practical wastewater treatment applications.
