Possibilities of Using Seed Meals in Control of Herbicide-Susceptible and -Resistant Biotypes of Rye Brome (Bromus secalinus L.) in Winter Wheat

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of seed meals obtained from allelopathic crops as an environmentally-friendly alternative for the control of herbicide-susceptible (S) and -resistant (R) rye brome biotypes in winter wheat. The results showed that seed meals from Phacelia tanacetifolia and Raphanus sativus var. oleiformis had good control effects on rye brome, significantly reducing its emergence and limiting its initial growth.

Predictive phytotoxic value of water-soluble allelochemicals in plant extracts for choosing a cover crop or mulch for specific weed control

Summary: This study evaluated the phytotoxic effects of aqueous extracts from different cover crop and mulch species on the germination and early growth of three troublesome weed species. The results showed significant inhibition of weed germination and growth by some plant extracts, suggesting the potential use of cover crops and mulches in weed management.

The Allelopathic Potential of Rosa blanda Aiton on Selected Wild-Growing Native and Cultivated Plants in Europe

Summary: Invasive plant species can alter ecosystems and threaten native flora and fauna populations. This study found that aqueous extracts of R. blanda leaves and flowers had the highest allelopathic potential, inhibiting seed germination and seedling growth of tested species. The concentration and type of extract also affected biomass and water content in seedlings, with the highest impact at 5% concentration.
