Numerical study on the thermal performance of the shell and tube heat exchanger using twisted tubes and Al2O3 nanoparticles

Valiyollah Ghazanfari et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of twisted tubes and Al2O3 nanofluid on the thermal performance of the shell and tube heat exchanger was investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The results showed that using twisted tubes instead of smooth tubes increased the heat transfer coefficient by about 20% but increased the pressure drop by about 14%. Simultaneously using 20% nanofluid and twisted tubes resulted in an 8% increase in heat transfer coefficient and a 40% reduction in pressure drop compared to the old heat exchangers with various baffles. Therefore, the use of nanofluids and twisted tubes can enhance thermal performance and reduce economic costs.

Hybrid nanofluid magnetohydrodynamic mixed convection in a novel W-shaped porous system

Dipak Kumar Mandal et al.

Summary: This study numerically examines the influence of various geometric parameters on the thermal performance of a novel W-shaped porous cavity undergoing hybrid nanofluid-based magnetohydrodynamic mixed convection. The results show that an increase in the bottom undulation height improves the thermal energy transfer despite the reduction of fluid volume. The overall thermal energy transport is improved by increasing Reynolds number, Richardson number, and Darcy number, while it is suppressed by increasing Hartmann number.

Hydromagnetic flow of magnetite-water nanofluid utilizing adapted Buongiorno model

F. Mebarek-Oudina et al.

Summary: This study numerically evaluates the hydromagnetic flow of a magnetite-water nanofluid induced by a rotating stretchable disk. The Buongiorno model is used to model the nanofluid flow, considering the volume fraction-dependent effective properties and slip mechanisms. Experimentally obtained functions of effective viscosity and thermal conductivity are also employed. The transformed first-order ODEs are solved using the Runge-Kutta algorithm and the shooting technique. The impact of relevant terms on the nanoliquid temperature and concentration is explained using graphs. The findings have important applications in various fields such as spin coating, rotating disk reactors, storage devices, food processing, and heat exchangers.

Review on Nano Enhanced PCMs: Insight on nePCM Application in Thermal Management/Storage Systems

Fateh Mebarek-Oudina et al.

Summary: Phase change materials (PCMs) have attracted the attention of scientists due to their value in minimizing energy consumption and expanding heat storage, but several challenges have hindered research in this area. This paper summarizes the use of nano-enhanced PCMs to overcome these constraints, discussing their motivation, advantages, applications, and impact on thermal management and storage equipment. Recent studies have shown that nanoparticles can greatly improve the thermo-physical properties of PCMs, leading to significant positive effects in terms of thermal concepts at various levels. Nano-enhanced PCMs are now capable of storing and releasing large amounts of heat in short periods of time, benefiting thermal storage systems and increasing overall efficiency in various applications.

Numerical analysis of magnetic hybrid Nano-fluid natural convective flow in an adjusted porous trapezoidal enclosure

I. Chabani et al.

Summary: This research paper numerically investigates the laminar flow of nano-fluid and the impact of its thermo-physical characteristics on convective heat transfer. It finds that increasing the Rayleigh number, Darcy number, and volume fraction of the hybrid nano-fluid can improve thermal transfer, while decreasing the Hartmann number is recommended. Additionally, the study evaluates the geometric features of the enclosure and suggests that decreasing the aspect ratio, reducing the undulation number of the wall, and increasing the inclination angle of the side walls are crucial for enhancing thermal efficiency and heat transmission.

An exact solution of a Casson fluid flow induced by dust particles with hybrid nanofluid over a stretching sheet subject to Lorentz forces

Umair Khan et al.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of Lorentz forces on the Casson fluid flow of water-based Fe3O4-MWCNT hybrid nanofluid induced by dust particles from a stretching sheet. The authors transform the leading partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations and obtain an exact analytical solution for these transformed equations. The effects of various physical constraints on the dust velocity and fluid velocity in normal nanofluid and hybrid nanofluid are discussed in detail.

Summary: This study investigates the thermo-fluid phenomena of MHD free convection using Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid in a porous oblique enclosure with a wavy vertical wall. The findings suggest that the wavy curved wall may not always enhance heat transfer, and the inclination angle plays a significant role in controlling overall thermal performance.
