Advances in Bioactivity of MicroRNAs of Plant-Derived Exosome-Like Nanoparticles and Milk-Derived Extracellular Vesicles

Dan Li et al.

Summary: This review provides an overview of the roles of miRNAs in plant ELNs and milk EVs and their effects on inflammation, intestinal barrier, tumors, and infantile immunological functions. The adverse effects of EV miRNAs on human health are also discussed. Furthermore, the challenges and potential applications of ELN and EV miRNAs in human health are explored. Further studies are needed to better understand the interventional effects of ELN and EV miRNAs on human health.

Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles and their therapeutic activities

Jisu Kim et al.

Summary: Nanotechnologies have been successfully applied in the treatment of various diseases. Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (PENs) are expected to be effective therapeutic modalities, minimizing cytotoxicity to healthy tissues while targeting tumors with specific endocytosis mechanisms. This review summarizes the features and bioactivities of PENs extracted from grape, grapefruit, ginger, lemon, and broccoli, and discusses their applications as therapeutics and nanocarriers.

Tumor-derived exosomal non-coding RNAs as diagnostic biomarkers in cancer

Nasim Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: Reliable, accessible, and non-invasive biomarkers are crucial for reducing cancer mortality. Extracellular vesicles, particularly exosomes, have emerged as potential biomarkers for the diagnosis and follow-up of solid and hematopoietic tumors due to their abundance in bodily fluids and ability to transport various biomolecules. However, the lack of standardized effective methods for their isolation, identification, and precise characterization poses challenges for their clinical application.

Hypomorphic ASGR1 modulates lipid homeostasis via INSIG1-mediated SREBP signaling suppression

Yingying Xu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that ASGR1 mutation led to decreased levels of non-HDL cholesterol and triglycerides in mice through the suppression of the SREBP signaling pathway. This finding suggests that the ASGR1/INSIG1/SREBP axis could be a potential target for lipid-lowering drug development.
