Multiplicative-accumulative matching of NLO calculations with parton showers

Paolo Nason et al.

Summary: The proposed approach combines the features of the MC@NLO and KrkNLO methods to achieve a combination of NLO and parton shower calculations. It aims to provide applicability to general showers, positive-weight events, and attribute all showering to the parton shower code. This is achieved through multiplicative and accumulative matching in different phase space regions.

Soft spin correlations in final-state parton showers

Keith Hamilton et al.

Summary: In this paper, we introduce a simple procedure to account for single-logarithmic spin-correlation effects in parton showers. The procedure is applied in the PanScales family of parton showers and a new non-global spin-sensitive observable is introduced. Comparisons to fixed-order matrix elements validate the approach and the work represents an important step in achieving the PanScales next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy goals.

Summary: We conducted extensive tests on the NLL accuracy of the PanScales parton showers and compared them with various calculations. The results show that traditional shower simulations have significant NLL errors in some cases.

PanScales parton showers for hadron collisions: formulation and fixed-order studies

Melissa van Beekveld et al.

Summary: In this paper, we present tests of the PanScales parton showers for colour singlet production at fixed order, including the treatment of momentum imbalances from initial-state branching and the full colour handling for soft-collinear emissions and spin correlations.

Lund and Cambridge multiplicities for precision physics

Rok Medves et al.

Summary: This study revisits the calculation of average jet multiplicity in high-energy collisions and introduces a new definition of (sub)jet multiplicity. A new systematic resummation approach is developed and applied to compute Lund and Cambridge average multiplicities with higher accuracy compared to previous works. The results show good agreement with existing data and provide more accurate predictions for Lund multiplicity at LEP energies.

Colour and logarithmic accuracy in final-state parton showers

Keith Hamilton et al.

Summary: This work focuses on correcting the subleading-colour contributions to leading and next-to-leading logarithms (NLL) for a range of observables in final-state showers. Two simple and computationally efficient prescriptions are presented to address the issue, showing correct full colour NLL terms for global observables and multiplicities. Despite remaining subleading colour issues at NLL for non-global observables, one of the schemes reproduces the correct full-colour matrix-element for any number of energy-ordered commensurate-angle pairs of emissions.

Improvements on dipole shower colour

Jack Holguin et al.

Summary: The dipole formalism provides a powerful framework for constructing parton showers. The proposed dipole shower with improved color accuracy has been shown to perform well after explicit checks at O(alpha(2)(s)). It was found that other dipole shower algorithms fail to achieve the same handling of angular-ordered radiation as a coherent branching algorithm.

Quantum Interference in Jet Substructure from Spinning Gluons

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the three-point energy correlator in jet substructure, analyzing its behavior in the strong coupling constant limit where two detectors are squeezed together. By rotating the squeezed detectors with respect to a third detector, we observe a cos(2 phi) dependence due to quantum interference between intermediate virtual gluons. This double slit experiment performed with jet substructure offers insights into the ultimately quantum nature of the substructure of jets and transverse spin physics in QCD.

Summations of large logarithms by parton showers

Zoltan Nagy et al.

Summary: The proposed method aims to examine how a parton shower sums large logarithms, by working with integral transforms and reformulating the shower to obtain the transformed distribution as an exponential. This program was applied to the thrust distribution in electron-positron annihilation, with the approach of computing some perturbative coefficients in the exponent and testing their consistency with next-to-leading-log summation of the thrust logarithms.
