Age-related alterations in cardiac and arterial structure and function in hypertensive women and men

Anping Cai et al.

Summary: This study compared age-related alterations in cardiac and arterial structures and functions by sex, and explored the impacts of achieved systolic blood pressure levels on these alterations in hypertensive women and men. It was found that in women, there were greater associations between age and cardiac/arterial indices compared to men, especially when systolic blood pressure was below 130 mm Hg.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the associations between general and abdominal obesity with left ventricular structure and function, finding that both types of obesity were related to different patterns of LV alterations, with no differences in associations by sex.
