Effect of the Nanoparticle Exposures on the Tomato Bacterial Wilt Disease Control by Modulating the Rhizosphere Bacterial Community

Summary: This study found that metal oxide nanoparticles can reduce the incidence of tomato bacterial wilt and alter the composition and structure of the rhizosphere bacterial community. Among them, the application of CuO nanoparticles significantly affected the abundance of beneficial Streptomyces bacteria. This research provides evidence and strategies for using metal oxide nanoparticles to prevent and control soil-borne disease tomato bacterial wilt.

Exploring cellulose nanocrystals obtained from olive tree wastes as sustainable crop protection tool against bacterial diseases

Summary: Nanomaterials in agriculture, as nanopesticides or nanocarriers, offer an innovative method for protecting crops. This research focused on synthesizing cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) from olive pruning wastes and using them to control the olive knot disease. The results showed that CNCs inhibited bacterial growth and biofilm formation, and reduced bacterial survival on leaf surfaces. Additionally, CNCs had minimal negative effects on olive tree seedlings and showed promising root uptake.
