Synchronized Efficacy and Mechanism of Alkaline Fertilizer and Biocontrol Fungi for Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4

Yuanqiong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect and mechanism of alkaline fertilizer, bio-control fungi, and their synergistic application on controlling Fusarium Tr4 incidence in bananas. The results showed that the synchronized use of alkaline fertilizer and biocontrol fungi reduced the incidence rate of banana Fusarium wilt and improved plant growth and nutrient accumulation. This was achieved by increasing root activity and maintaining the normal transport of water and nutrients between the underground and aboveground portions of the plant.

Multilayered synergistic regulation of phytoalexin biosynthesis by ethylene, jasmonate, and MAPK signaling pathways in Arabidopsis

Jinggeng Zhou et al.

Summary: Ethylene, jasmonate, and MPK3/MPK6 signaling pathways synergistically induce camalexin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis. The transcription factor ERF1 integrates the ethylene and jasmonate pathways to upregulate camalexin biosynthetic genes and interacts with WRKY33 to cooperate in activating camalexin biosynthesis. Additionally, ERF1 acts as a substrate of MPK3/MPK6 and its phosphorylation enhances its transactivation activity.

Wheat blast caused byMagnaporthe oryzaepathovarTriticumis efficiently controlled by the plant defence inducer isotianil

Katharina Portz et al.

Summary: Isotianil showed significant efficacy in reducing disease severity of wheat blast when applied as seed treatment or soil drench, with microscopic analyses revealing its ability to prevent invasive growth of the pathogen. The results demonstrated the high potential of isotianil to protect wheat plants against wheat blast, and no phytotoxicity was observed on wheat plants following treatment.
