Phylogenomic and comparative analyses of Coffeeae alliance (Rubiaceae): deep insights into phylogenetic relationships and plastome evolution

Sara Getachew Amenu et al.

Summary: This study provides detailed analysis of plastomes in the Coffeeae alliance, revealing their structural variations and phylogenetic relationships. Results show that the size and elements of plastomes are affected by the internal repeat regions, but the emerging structural variations have no significant taxonomic and phylogenetic implications. Additionally, several highly variable regions were identified as potential molecular markers for further species delimitation and population genetic analysis.

Complete chloroplast genomes shed light on phylogenetic relationships, divergence time, and biogeography of Allioideae (Amaryllidaceae)

Ju Namgung et al.

Summary: The study reported the complete chloroplast genome sequences of several Allioideae species and revealed multiple instances of gene loss and pseudogenization during evolution. Molecular phylogenomic analysis supported the monophyly of Allioideae and shed light on the relationships among different tribes. Biogeographic reconstruction indicated an African origin for Allioideae with subsequent spread to Eurasia, as well as long-distance dispersal for intercontinental distribution of African and South American Allioideae species.

Plastid phylogenomic insights into the evolution of subfamily Dialioideae (Leguminosae)

Han-Rui Bai et al.

Summary: The subfamily Dialioideae of Leguminosae consisting of 17 genera and about 85 species shows conservative plastome structure, with variations in genome size and gene number mainly attributed to expansion and contraction of inverted repeat regions. Divergent regions or genes have been identified as potential molecular markers for further species delimitation and population genetics analysis in legumes. Phylogenetic analysis based on protein-coding sequences fully resolved intergeneric relationships among nine genera, providing new insights into plastome structural variations in Dialioideae and the evolutionary trajectories of legume plastomes.
