Assessing the potentials of bacterial antagonists for plant growth promotion, nutrient acquisition, and biological control of Southern blight disease in tomato

Farjana Sultana et al.

Summary: This study identified two rhizobacterial strains, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia PPB3 and Bacillus subtilis PPB9, that showed strong antagonism against S. rolfsii and promoted the growth of tomato plants. Seed treatment and application of the bacteria on plants improved seed germination, plant growth, and yield, and reduced the occurrence of southern blight in greenhouse and field environments.
