Genomic Epidemiology of ST34 Monophasic Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium from Clinical Patients from 2008 to 2017 in Henan, China

Yujiao Mu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the epidemiology and genomic characterization of Salmonella enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:- in Henan Province, China. The results showed an increasing prevalence of multi-drug resistant S. 4,[5],12:i:- in China, with different resistance gene acquisition patterns among different lineages. Control measures are necessary to address the spread of this pathogen, and a One Health approach should be implemented to support surveillance and intervention strategies.

Prevalence and Characteristics of Salmonella spp. from a Pig Farm in Shanghai, China

Yuqi Tian et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dynamic changes of Salmonella spp. in a pig farm in Shanghai, China, from April 2018 to March 2019, identifying key points for Salmonella spp. contamination prevention. Results showed high proportions of Salmonella in fecal and feed samples, with most isolates demonstrating multidrug resistance, particularly against sulfamethoxazole, lincomycin, ampicillin, oxytetracycline, and tetracycline.

Evolutionary dynamics of multidrug resistant Salmonella enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:- in Australia

Danielle J. Ingle et al.

Summary: Three distinct lineages of Salmonella 4,[5],12:i:- have emerged in Australia, likely reflecting differential antimicrobial selection pressures, with two lineages associated with travel to South-East Asia and the third lineage endemic to Australia. These antimicrobial-resistant lineages efficiently infect and survive in host cells, suggesting a suppression of host immune response facilitating their persistence.
