The results showed that T. harzianum ITEM 3636 exerts its antagonistic activity against F. solani through the synthesis of secondary metabolites and high enzymatic activity. Greenhouse assays demonstrated that the application of T. harzianum ITEM 3636 on peanut seeds effectively reduced the incidence and severity of peanut brown root rot.

Deletion of ThpacC results in the abolishment of homodimericin A and 8-epi-homodimericin A production, and affects the antagonism of T. harzianum against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.

Analysis of their sequences and phylogenetic positioning revealed a close relationship to T. lentiforme lineage inside the Harzianum Glade, with a unique absence of the Aib-Pro motif commonly found in peptaibols from Trichoderma spp. Genomic sequencing also uncovered a 15-module NRPS-encoding gene associated with pentadecaibin biosynthesis. Antiproliferative and antimicrobial activities of pentadecaibins were evaluated.

The expression of xylanases TasXyn29.4 and TasXyn24.2 in T. asperellum were upregulated, leading to growth promotion and enhanced resistance against pathogens in Populus davidiana x P. alba var. pyramidalis seedlings.
