Evaluation of data quality at the Hungarian National Cancer Registry, 2000-2019

Andras Weber et al.

Summary: The Hungarian National Cancer Registry (HNCR) was established in 1999 and aims to support the planning and development of the Hungarian oncology network and national cancer control policies. A comprehensive evaluation of the data quality at the HNCR was conducted, which revealed discrepancies in coding practices and classification systems compared to international standards. The age-standardized incidence rate per 100,000 measured by the HNCR in 2018 was higher than estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), primarily due to ill-defined ICD codes. However, despite these differences, the data from the HNCR are reasonably comparable and fulfill the requirements to support national oncology services and cancer planning.

Mechanisms of deoxynivalenol (DON) degradation during different treatments: a review

Ehsan Feizollahi et al.

Summary: There are various methods for degrading deoxynivalenol (DON), each with different degradation efficacy and byproducts. Studying the effects of these degradation methods on DON, understanding the formation mechanisms and toxicity of the byproducts, can help in selecting the best method to overcome DON contamination in grains.

The effect of humic acid in chronic deoxynivalenol intoxication

Martin Haus et al.

Summary: The most common mycotoxin found in European foodstuffs, especially unprocessed grains, is deoxynivalenol (DON), which inhibits proteosynthesis and induces oxidative stress. The addition of humic acids (HA) in the diet of rats exposed to orally administered DON helped alleviate oxidative stress by affecting the absorption of DON and limiting its bioavailability. This supplementation also showed possible interference with ROS inhibition to achieve redox homeostasis.

Incidence of Fusarium Mycotoxins in Wheat and Maize from Albania

Dritan Topi et al.

Summary: This study analyzed ten Fusarium toxins in wheat and maize commodities from Albania, finding higher levels of toxins in maize samples, mainly FB1 and FB2, with some maize samples exceeding the EU maximum permitted level. The presence of Fusarium toxins in wheat and maize grains cultivated in Albania was reported for the first time.
