Immunomodulatory effects of different strains of Lactococcus lactis in DSS-induced colitis

Juliana Lima Alves et al.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are gastrointestinal disorders characterized by a breakdown in intestinal homeostasis by inflammatory immune responses. Novel strategies for ameliorating IBD have been proposed. The study showed that different strains of Lactococcus lactis improved clinical scores and parameters of colitis, confirming their anti-inflammatory properties in this model.

Chemotherapeutics-Induced Intestinal Mucositis: Pathophysiology and Potential Treatment Strategies

David Dahlgren et al.

Summary: Chemotherapeutics-induced intestinal mucositis (CIM) is a common gastrointestinal toxicity in cancer patients due to the rapid proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells and complex immunological interactions with gut microbiota. CIM often leads to dose-reduction, decreasing the efficacy of anticancer treatment, and effective strategies for prevention and treatment are still lacking.
