Correlating multi-functional role of cold shock domain proteins with intrinsically disordered regions

Amit Chaudhary et al.

Summary: Cold shock proteins are a conserved family of proteins that play important roles in low-temperature stress response and nucleic acid binding in bacteria. They are involved in various cellular and metabolic processes in prokaryotes and have been found to be crucial in the progression of cancer and Alzheimer's disease in humans.

Non-canonical LexA proteins regulate the SOS response in the Bacteroidetes

Miquel Sanchez-Osuna et al.

Summary: Lesions to DNA can threaten cell survival by compromising chromosome integrity, and the bacterial SOS response is a common transcriptional regulatory mechanism to address DNA damage. A novel family of transcriptional repressor proteins in the Bacteroidetes has been identified, orchestrating the canonical response to DNA damage in this phylum. The discovery sheds light on the origin and plasticity of the transcriptional network involved in the SOS response.

Cloning and Expression of Levansucrase Gene of Bacillus velezensis BM-2 and Enzymatic Synthesis of Levan

Min Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the levansucrase gene of Bacillus velezensis BM-2 was successfully cloned and transferred into Escherichia coli BL21, leading to a significant increase in levan production and purity. The enzyme showed optimal activity at 50 degrees C and pH 5.6, with enhanced activity in the presence of certain metal ions. These findings suggest that the levansucrase has promising industrial application prospects and warrants further research.

Identification of Biomolecules Involved in the Adaptation to the Environment of Cold-Loving Microorganisms and Metabolic Pathways for Their Production

Eva Garcia-Lopez et al.

Summary: Cold-loving microorganisms have unique abilities and mechanisms to adapt to harsh environments, producing diverse molecules for energy, photosynthesis, stress resistance, and UV protection. Advanced analytical techniques like omics have been used to study these microorganisms and their biogeochemical activities, identifying potential biomolecules with applications in biotechnology. New strategies and approaches are needed to further explore and discover the potential of these cold-loving microorganisms.
