Three New Species of Absidia (Mucoromycota) from China Based on Phylogeny, Morphology and Physiology

Heng Zhao et al.

Summary: This article proposes three new species of Absidia from Xinjiang and Yunnan in China based on phylogenetic, morphological and physiological evidence. The phylogenetic analysis suggests that these new species are closely related to other known Absidia species. The characteristics distinguishing these new species from their close relatives are described and illustrated in the article.

Global diversity and systematics of Hymenochaetaceae with poroid hymenophore

Fang Wu et al.

Summary: This study presents the taxonomy and phylogeny of poroid Hymenochaetaceae based on comprehensive phylogenetic analyses. New genera, species, and combinations are introduced. The study recognizes 672 species in 34 genera and provides a modern treatment of poroid Hymenochaetaceae worldwide. Identification keys for accepted species are provided.

Phylogeny, Divergence Time Estimation and Biogeography of the Genus Onnia (Basidiomycota, Hymenochaetaceae)

Heng Zhao et al.

Summary: This study reconstructed the phylogeny and evolutionary history of Onnia using molecular clock analysis and biogeographic reconstruction. The results show that species diversification of Onnia mainly occurred in the Neogene period, and Asia is likely the ancestral area. Rapid diversification of Onnia species was driven by five dispersals and two vicariances.

A comparison of polypore funga and species composition in forest ecosystems of China, North America, and Europe

Fang Wu et al.

Summary: This study compared the diversity and species composition of polypores in China, North America, and Europe. The results showed that China has the highest polypore diversity, and white rot is the major nutritional mode for polypores in all three regions.

Haploporus (Basidiomycota, Polyporales) in sub-Saharan Africa: Poria eichelbaumii, a long-forgotten name, is reinstated in Haploporus and H. grandisporus sp. nov. is proposed

Cony A. Decock et al.

Summary: Poria eichelbaumii has been transferred to the genus Haploporus based on morphological and phylogenetic evidence. A new species, Haploporus grandisporus, has been described and forms a closely related clade with Haploporus eichelbaumii. The two species are distinguished by differences in basidiospore and pore size, as well as likely ecological differences.

Meng Zhou et al.

Summary: A study on the phylogeny and taxonomy of the genus Haploporus was conducted, updating the species diversity with the description of four new species. Molecular analyses and morphological characteristics were used to differentiate the new species from existing ones, providing an identification key for accepted species of Haploporus.

Fang Wu et al.

Summary: Auricularia, with a worldwide distribution, was studied through morphological and multi-gene phylogenetic analyses, leading to the identification of 10 new species among the 37 recognized. Discussions on morphological traits, ecological habits, geographical distributions, and a comparison data summary with an identification key were provided for these species.

Two New Species in the Family Cunninghamellaceae from China

Heng Zhao et al.

Summary: The study identified two new species within the family Cunninghamellaceae from soils in China, namely Absidia ovalispora sp. nov. and Cunninghamella globospora sp. nov., based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses using ITS and LSU of ribosomal DNA. They were found to have close phylogenetic relationships with known species, but differed morphologically in various characteristics.
