Study the best ratio of S and Se in CZTSSe solar cells with nontoxic buffer layer

Wen-Chao Zhang et al.

Summary: The CZTSSe material is attracting attention for its low cost, environmental friendliness, high absorption coefficient, and adjustable bandgap. Researchers are focusing on finding suitable buffer layer materials to replace toxic cadmium in CZTSSe solar cells. This study utilized spectroscopic ellipsometry and numerical simulation software to analyze the impact of different buffer layers on solar cell performance, finding that the CZTSSe thin film solar cell performance is optimal when the sulfur-to-selenium ratio is X=0.4.

Defects signature in VOC characterization of thin-film solar cells

Atul Kumar et al.

Summary: The abnormal features of VOC dependence on temperature and illumination in p-n+-n++ heterojunction family of solar cell devices were investigated to identify defects. By simulating individual defects and shortcomings in the device model, a comparison study for temperature-VOC and illumination-VOC was conducted to summarize features associated with different device shortcomings. The simulation of VOC-temperature and VOC-illumination plots characterization proved useful in diagnosing and identifying defects in the device.
