Influence of seawater acidification on biochemical composition and oxidative status of green algae Ulva compressa

A. Vinuganesh et al.

Summary: The study found that seawater acidification benefits the productivity of Ulva compressa by increasing photosynthetic pigments and primary metabolites levels. Acidified conditions also enhance mineral and polyunsaturated fatty acid content, while reducing malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, indicating a decrease in oxidative stress. However, total antioxidant capacity and various antioxidants were reduced in thalli grown under acidified conditions.

Activation of MAPK signaling in response to nitrogen deficiency in Ulva prolifera (Chlorophyta)

Juanjuan Yang et al.

Summary: The study on Ulva prolifera's response to nitrogen deficiency revealed that nitrogen limitation triggers the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling, leading to increased apoptosis rates and reduced capacity for cell-wall regeneration of protoplasts.
