Evaluating Impact of Land Use and Land Cover Change Under Climate Change on the Lake Marmara System

Mert Can Gunacti et al.

Summary: Lake Marmara, located in Western Turkey, is an environmentally degraded water resource, but officially recognized as a priority wetland due to its historical habitats and ecosystem functions. Land use/cover changes (LULCC) and climate change pose significant threats to the region, impacting local communities' access to fundamental ecosystem services.

Assessing the impacts of land use/land cover and climate change on surface runoff of a humid tropical river basin in Western Ghats, India

Rakesh Kumar Sinha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impacts of changes in land use/land cover (LULC) and climate on surface runoff in the Kadalundi river basin, Western Ghats, India. The results show that there is a decrease in forest and grassland and an increase in agriculture and urban areas from 2000 to 2050, leading to an increase in mean annual surface runoff. Climate change scenarios suggest a decrease in mean annual surface runoff in the future, with RCP 8.5 showing worse conditions than RCP 4.5. The combined effects of changes in LULC and climate indicate a decreasing trend in surface runoff for the near and mid future.

Separation of the Impact of Landuse/Landcover Change and Climate Change on Runoff in the Upstream Area of the Yangtze River, China

Naveed Ahmed et al.

Summary: The study found that climate change has a more significant impact on streamflow in the catchment area, while landuse/landcover change has a relatively smaller impact. Changes in evapotranspiration due to climate change are larger, especially from August to October.

Impacts of Climate and Land-Use Changes on Hydrological Processes of the Source Region of Yellow River, China

Mudassar Iqbal et al.

Summary: Climate change has a greater impact on hydrological processes in the sub-basins of the Yellow River Source Region, compared to land-use changes. The combined impacts of climate and land-use changes are most noticeable in the Maqu subbasin, where there is a significant decrease in runoff and increase in evapotranspiration.

Investigating the effects of land use change on flood hydrograph using HEC-HMS hydrologic model (case study: Ekbatan Dam)

Shahla Azizi et al.

Summary: The study used remote sensing and hydrological modeling to investigate the impact of land use changes on flood levels in the catchment basin of the Ekbatan Dam, finding an increase in peak discharge volume and runoff height in 1985, 2000, and 2015.
