Numerical simulation of single bubble motion along inclined walls: A comprehensive map of outcomes

Sajad Khodadadi et al.

Summary: The interactions between bubbles and walls have significant effects on the performance of industrial applications. In this study, a single bubble rising next to an inclined wall in a stagnant fluid is investigated using numerical simulation and experimental validation. The results reveal three different regimes of bubble-wall interaction: sliding, intermittent, and non-contact, which are determined by parameters such as wall slope, contact angle, and dimensionless numbers. The findings provide valuable insights into understanding and optimizing the bubble behavior near walls in various industrial processes.

A single bubble rising in the vicinity of a vertical wall: A numerical study based on volume of fluid method

Hongjie Yan et al.

Summary: In this study, a three-dimensional direct numerical simulation based on the volume of fluid (VOF) method and adaptive mesh refinement method was conducted to investigate the rising and wake structures of a single bubble near a vertical wall. The results showed that the presence of a vertical wall significantly affects the bubble trajectory and wake structures. The bubble can follow a rectilinear or spiral path depending on the Galileo number, and it exhibits periodic oscillations. The viscosity effect near the vertical wall leads to a decrease in the bubble terminal velocity, which becomes less pronounced as the Galileo number increases.

Migration dynamics of an initially spherical deformable bubble in the vicinity of a corner

S. M. Mahfuzul Hasan et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the migration dynamics of a deformable bubble near a corner formed by two vertical walls. The study found that the bubble's inertia is influenced by the initial bubble-walls interaction, which affects its migration trajectory. Five regimes were identified, including three fully developed regimes and two transitional regimes. Furthermore, the overall dynamics of the bubble in this study showed distinct characteristics compared to single wall and unbounded situations.

Numerical Study on the Rising Motion of Bubbles near the Wall

Kaixin Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that the rising motion of bubbles in near-wall static water is influenced by factors such as the distance from the wall, the diameter of the bubble, and the arrangement of bubbles. The influence of the wall on the bubble's rise is affected by the distance from the wall and the bubble diameter.
