Tyre and road wear particles - A calculation of generation, transport and release to water and soil with special regard to German roads

Beate Baensch-Baltruschat et al.

Summary: This study calculated the emissions of tyre wear particles annually generated on the German road network and considered the environmental entry paths including releases to ambient air, soils, and surface waters. There was also a focus on road runoff treatment differentiated into sewage systems in urban areas and non-urban roads.

Roof runoff contamination: a review on pollutant nature, material leaching and deposition

Pieter-Jan De Buyck et al.

Summary: Roof runoff, often considered clean, can actually be contaminated by various pollutants, with treated wood roofing and metallic rooftops having the highest impact on water quality. Two main sources of contamination are leaching from roofing materials and atmospheric deposition. A benchmarking method is introduced to rank roofing materials based on their runoff quality.
