Hydrogen peroxide as attenuator of salt stress effects on the physiology and biomass of yellow passion fruit

Elysson M. G. Andrade et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the fluorescence, photosynthetic pigments, and biomass of yellow passion fruit under salt stress and foliar application of hydrogen peroxide. The results showed that irrigation using water with ECw of 1.4 dS m(-1) compromised the growth and photosynthesis of yellow passion fruit, while a concentration of 20 mu M hydrogen peroxide helped yellow passion fruit acclimate to salt stress.

Non-stomatal limitation of photosynthesis by soil salinity

Ting Pan et al.

Summary: This study summaries the impact of salinity on chloroplast metabolism and operation, discusses potential solutions to minimize its effects on plants, and suggests that enhancing plant protection capacity may be a promising way to improve tolerance to salt stress under real-field conditions. By revealing the molecular nature of chloroplast ion transporters and understanding their operation modes, the future sustainability of world agriculture and prospects of biological phytoremediation of salinized land can be ensured.

CATIONIC NATURE OF WATER AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE ON THE FORMATION OF PASSION FRUIT SEEDLINGS

Geovani Soares De Lima et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of cationic nature of irrigation water and exogenous application of hydrogen peroxide on the water relations, photosynthetic pigments, and growth of passion fruit. It was found that application of 60 mu M of H2O2 can reduce intercellular electrolyte leakage in plants irrigated with water of calcic composition. Salinity and H2O2 concentrations influenced leaf water potential, while biomass accumulation of passion fruit was more sensitive to water conductivity. Regardless of cationic nature, passion fruit seedlings with ECw of 3.0 dS m(-1) had a Dickson quality index higher than 0.2.

Mechanisms Regulating the Dynamics of Photosynthesis Under Abiotic Stresses

Izhar Muhammad et al.

Summary: Photosynthesis is crucial for plant life but is often limited by unfavorable environmental conditions and biological processes, affecting efficiency and yield. Research on plant responses to abiotic stresses and light modulation of photosynthesis can improve crop productivity. Understanding regulatory elements and gene responses to stresses can aid in developing stress-tolerant plants with higher yields.

Growth, leaf gas exchange and physiological parameters of two Glycyrrhiza glabra L. populations subjected to salt stress condition

Assieh Behdad et al.

Summary: Salinity stress significantly affects the growth and membrane stability index of licorice, while increasing antioxidant activity and secondary metabolites. Different rhizome diameters can influence licorice growth, and salt stress can lead to oxidative stress in licorice.
