Regolith mapping and geochemistry of hydrothermally altered, weathered and clay minerals, Western Jahajpur belt, Bhilwara, India

Mahesh Kumar Tripathi et al.

Summary: Mapping of regolith is significant for identifying and distinguishing geomorphic expression, regolith evolution, weathering histories, and the relationship between parent and surface materials. This research study focused on the hydrothermally altered regolith in Western Jahajpur Belt, Bhilwara, India using ASTER and AVIRIS imageries and various image processing methods. The results show the identification of regolith and geological formations, as well as the classification of different regolith-landforms.

Estimating kaolinite crystallinity using near-infrared spectroscopy: Implications for its geology on Earth and Mars

Maxime Pineau et al.

Summary: Kaolinite is a common aluminum-rich phyllosilicate mineral observed on Earth and Mars. The near-infrared (NIR) spectral signature of kaolinite can be used to estimate its crystallinity and geological origin. Variations in crystallinity affect the position and shape of the NIR spectral features of kaolinite, which can be analyzed using high-resolution spectra to determine the crystallinity and origin of kaolinite on both Earth and Mars.

PRISMA sensor evaluation: a case study of mineral mapping performance over Makhtesh Ramon, Israel

Daniela Heller Pearlshtien et al.

Summary: The PRISMA hyperspectral remote sensing satellite launched by the Italian Space Agency has shown promising results in mapping minerals and geology in the Makhtesh Ramon area of Israel. However, some outliers were observed in certain spectral regions, affecting the fine mapping of certain minerals such as carbonates. The PRISMA sensor's performance was compared to an airborne HSR sensor, revealing about 80% accuracy for its mineral mapping products.

Potentials of Airborne Hyperspectral AVIRIS-NG Data in the Exploration of Base Metal Deposit-A Study in the Parts of Bhilwara, Rajasthan

Arindam Guha et al.

Summary: This study processed AVIRIS-NG hyperspectral data to delineate surface signatures of base metal mineralization in the Pur-Banera area of Rajasthan, India. The results show that these surface proxies can be used for mineral exploration, as confirmed by ground magnetic anomaly maps and X-ray fluorescence analysis. Structural control and surface alteration minerals were also identified, strengthening the importance of identified surface proxies.
