Crop Type Classification by DESIS Hyperspectral Imagery and Machine Learning Algorithms

Nizom Farmonov et al.

Summary: Developments in space-based hyperspectral sensors, advanced remote sensing, and machine learning can help in crop yield measurement, modeling, prediction, and monitoring for global food security. This article used new-generation DESIS images to classify main crop types in southeastern Hungary. The best accuracy was achieved with the WA-CNN algorithm, with an overall accuracy value of 97.89% and high producer's and user's accuracies. These results demonstrate the potential of DESIS data for crop growth observation and harvest volume prediction, which is crucial for farmers and decision-makers.

A fine spatial resolution estimation scheme for large-scale gross primary productivity (GPP) in mountain ecosystems by integrating an eco-hydrological model with the combination of linear and non-linear downscaling processes

Xinyao Xie et al.

Summary: This study developed a scheme that combines linear and non-linear downscaling processes to obtain large-scale mountain vegetation GPP at fine spatial resolutions. The results demonstrated that the proposed scheme is effective in recovering the topographic variations of mountain vegetation GPP and correcting GPP errors at coarse spatial resolutions.

Machine learning-based cloud computing improved wheat yield simulation in arid regions

Ahmed M. S. Kheir et al.

Summary: This study combines machine learning algorithms and dynamic models to develop a hybrid approach for simulating wheat yields over 40 years. The results show that using artificial neural networks and random forest regressors can improve the accuracy of wheat yield simulations. Applying machine learning algorithms can reduce yield changes and uncertainties.
