Valorization of cocoa's mucilage waste to ethanol and subsequent direct catalytic conversion into ethylene

Humberto Ayala et al.

Summary: This study presents a valorization route to produce ethanol and ethylene using cocoa's mucilage juice residue, demonstrating successful conversion of farm waste into bio-based products with enhanced marketability. Adjustment of parameters such as temperature, pH, and nitrogen source significantly increased ethanol production and selective conversion into ethylene.

Tracking Three Decades of Global Neodymium Stocks and Flows with a Trade-Linked Multiregional Material Flow Analysis

Qiance Liu et al.

Summary: Neodymium, an essential type of rare earth element, has attracted increasing attention due to its significant role in emerging technologies and its imbalanced demand and supply globally. This study analyzed the global and regional neodymium cycles from 1990 to 2020 and revealed complex trade patterns and the dominant but weakening role of China in the global neodymium trade. The study highlighted the importance of recycling to secure neodymium supply and the need for coordinated efforts among different regions for a sustainable future.
