Plasticizing effect of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide content on poly(vinyl alcohol)

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: PVA/IL composites were prepared using an ionic liquid (IL) and poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA). The plasticizing effect of IL on PVA was investigated using various analytical techniques. The results showed that IL could form hydrogen bonds with PVA, leading to changes in absorption peaks and thermal properties. The addition of IL improved the thermal stability and broadened the thermal processing window of the PVA/IL composites. However, the melt processability of the composites was not significantly improved.

Weight Reduction of Sea-island-type PTT/PET Conjugate Fiber and Dyeing of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Flock Microfibers

Chang Woo Nam et al.

Summary: The weight reduction behavior and dyeing properties of PTT/PET conjugate fibers were studied for a new flocking process application. The weight reduction ratio of conjugate fibers depends on the alkali treatment conditions, while the dyeing rates of flock microfibers vary with the energy level of disperse dyes. The fastness of the flocked fabric ranged from poor to good in wash fastness, poor to moderate in rubbing fastness, and fair to moderate in light fastness.

Micro/nano microfiber synthetic leather base with different nanofiber diameters

Yongchao Duo et al.

Summary: The study showed that adding polyacrylonitrile nanofibers of different diameters to microfiber synthetic leather base (MSLB) can affect its performance, with decreasing nanofiber diameter leading to increased water vapor transmission rate and softness but decreased air permeability. However, the moisture absorption performance and tear strength were better when the nanofiber diameter was 950 nm.

Low Molecular Weight Oligomers of Poly(alkylene succinate) Polyesters as Plasticizers in Poly(vinyl alcohol) Based Pharmaceutical Applications

Artemis Palamidi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the plasticizing effect of three low molecular weight aliphatic poly(alkylene succinate) polyesters on partially hydrolyzed poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) for melt-based pharmaceutical applications. Among the three polyesters, PESu was found to induce thermal degradation in PVA, while PBSu and PPSu showed no significant impact on PVA's thermal properties. The use of PPSu was shown to significantly improve PVA's melt flow properties, making it suitable for reducing processing temperature and enhancing melt flow properties without affecting thermal decomposition.
