Use of magnetic resonance image-guided radiotherapy for breast cancer: a scoping review

Alexandra Berlangieri et al.

Summary: This scoping review examined the clinical implementation of MRI-guided radiotherapy (MRIgRT) in breast cancer patients, finding that accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) is the most common treatment form. It also highlighted the importance of using bolus in specific areas to protect skin and prevent unwanted doses. Overall, APBI treatment on MR-linac is deemed feasible.

Neurological Complications of Conventional and Novel Anticancer Treatments

Paola Alberti et al.

Summary: Cancer survivors may experience neurological complications after anticancer therapy, including chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity and cognitive impairment. Immunotherapy can also lead to severe neurological immune-related adverse events. Although there is some understanding on this topic, effective treatments are still lacking.

Emerging Technologies in Mitigating the Risks of Cardiac Toxicity From Breast Radiotherapy

Hui Lin et al.

Summary: This review examines the late toxicities associated with breast radiotherapy and explores emerging technologies, including proton therapy and cardiac autosegmentation, for reducing radiation-induced cardiac toxicity. The study highlights the potential of proton therapy in limiting cardiac radiation exposure and preserving cardiac function among breast cancer patients. It also discusses the development of cardiac contouring atlases and substructure auto-segmentation methods for integration into dosimetric planning and outcome prediction.

Radiation-Induced Brachial Plexopathy in Patients With Breast Cancer Treated With Comprehensive Adjuvant Radiation Therapy

Soumon Rudra et al.

Summary: The study found that the risk of radiation-induced brachial plexopathy in breast cancer patients who received comprehensive adjuvant radiation therapy is low, and the use of intensity modulated radiation therapy does not appear to increase the development of this late toxicity.

A systematic review of rehabilitation and exercise recommendations in oncology guidelines

Nicole L. Stout et al.

Summary: This report systematically evaluated rehabilitation recommendations in 69 oncology guidelines, identifying that some guidelines support referral to rehabilitation services but lack specific assessment and intervention recommendations. 21 guidelines achieved a high quality score and were fully extracted. The findings suggest that while rehabilitation is recognized as an important component of oncology care, actual utilization rates remain low.
