Properties of Scots pine wood impregnated with capric acid for potential energy saving building material

Mohd Hazim Mohamad Amini et al.

Summary: Scots pine sapwood impregnated with different concentrations of capric acid was studied for its hygroscopic, mechanical properties, and thermal energy storage characteristics. The results showed that capric acid impregnated wood exhibited excellent heat storing and releasing performance during the phase change process, making it a promising thermal regulating building material to reduce energy consumption and cost caused by temperature fluctuations.

Transparent wood with phase change heat storage as novel green energy storage composites for building energy conservation

Rongqi Xia et al.

Summary: Transparent energy storage wood (TESW) was prepared by impregnating epoxy resin compound with phase change material polyethylene glycol (PEG) into delignified wood, showing improved energy storage performance with higher PEG content. The TESW exhibited high light transmittance of up to 80.89%, indicating minimal impact on optical properties with added energy storage function.
