Epidemiology of pre-existing multimorbidity in pregnant women in the UK in 2018: a population-based cross-sectional study

Maternal pregnancy outcomes in women with cardiomyopathy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study systematically assessed the impact of cardiomyopathy on maternal pregnancy outcomes. The results showed that pregnant women with cardiomyopathy have higher risks for adverse maternal outcomes, including cesarean delivery, severe maternal adverse cardiovascular events, and in-hospital mortality, compared to women with no heart disease and women with noncardiomyopathy heart disease. Preconception risk assessments and management by expert teams are crucial for pregnancies affected by cardiomyopathy.

The impact of chronic kidney disease Stages 3-5 on pregnancy outcomes

Summary: This study found that pregnancies in women with CKD Stages 3-5 are complicated by high rates of preterm delivery, low birthweight, and maternal renal function loss. Chronic hypertension, pre- or early pregnancy proteinuria, and a gestational fall in serum creatinine of <10% are key predictors of adverse obstetric and renal outcomes. Pregnancy in women with CKD Stages 3-5 advances the need for dialysis or transplantation by 2.5 years.
