Physician and Parent Perceptions on Plant-Based Beverages as Substitutes for Cow's Milk: A Single City Survey

Amanda C. Fifi et al.

Summary: This study examines the perceptions of physicians and parents regarding the consumption of plant-based beverages in children. The findings reveal a lack of knowledge among both physicians and parents concerning plant-based beverages as a substitute for dairy in children's diets. Although parents rely on physicians for health information, physicians are not consistently counseling parents on this topic. Removing the label "milk" from plant-based beverages may enhance consumer awareness of the nutritional differences and reduce potential health risks in children.
