Impact of a Modified HistoGel Method for Processing Endocervical Curettage Specimens on Diagnostic Yield

Maximiliano Ramia de Cap et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of cellular concentration processing method on the diagnostic quality of endocervical curettage specimens, finding no significant effect on specimen adequacy or diagnostic discordance. Adequate ECC sampling and concurrent biopsy/LEEP were independently associated with concordance between Pap smear and worst tissue diagnosis.

High-risk HPV-positive and-negative high-grade cervical dysplasia: Analysis of 5-year outcomes

Giorgio Bogani et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of high-risk (HR) HPV-positive and -negative women with high-grade cervical dysplasia. It found that HR-HPV-positive patients had a higher risk of recurrence at 5 years compared to HR-HPV-negative patients. Further prospective studies are needed to corroborate these findings.

Protective Role of Conization Before Radical Hysterectomy in Early-Stage Cervical Cancer: A Propensity-Score Matching Study

Nicolo Bizzarri et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of conization performed before radical hysterectomy in early-stage cervical carcinoma. Results showed that conization before radical surgery was associated with improved 5-year disease-free survival and lower likelihood of receiving adjuvant treatment. No significant difference in perioperative complications and overall survival was observed between patients who received conization and those who did not. Tumor diameter >20 mm was identified as the only independent risk factor affecting overall survival in both groups.

Diagnostic Three Slides Pap Test Compared to Punch Biopsy and Endocervical Curettage in Confirmed HSIL+ Diagnosis

Roberta Rubesa-Mihaljevic et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the accuracy of the diagnostic Pap test (DPT) compared to punch biopsy and endocervical curettage (PB/ECC) in detecting high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL). Results showed DPT had a significantly higher diagnostic accuracy for HSIL and could potentially replace PB/ECC in certain cases.
