Investigating the third-order NLO properties of 4-[(Z)-(6- nitro-1,3- benzothiazol-2-yl)diazinyl]naphthalen-1-ol for nonlinear applications using the Z-scan technique and quantum chemical computations

Liji E. Moses et al.

Summary: The structural and optical characteristics of azo dye 4-[(Z)-(6-Nitro-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl) diazinyl] naphthalen-1-ol were studied using various spectroscopic techniques. The compound's geometrical structure was optimized using the B3LYP method, and charge transfer interactions were analyzed. The compound showed significant bathochromic shift in the absorption maxima due to the presence of benzothiazole. The compound exhibited promising third-order nonlinear optical properties and is considered a potential candidate for optoelectronic and photonic devices.

Reena Gadhwal et al.

Summary: In this article, spectral studies and optical nonlinearities of optical grade thin films fabricated from nano colloidal solutions of Ge20Te75Bi5 chalcogenide glass are reported. The emission peaks and bandgap of the films vary with the concentration and grain size of the nanocomposites. The presence of reverse saturable absorption is confirmed and the third-order optical nonlinearities can be enhanced for usage in nonlinear optical systems.

Influence of Ni doping on the structural and third order nonlinear optical properties of ZnMoO4 nanostructures

A. S. Jayasree et al.

Summary: The third order nonlinear optical properties of Ni doped ZnMoO4 nanostructures with different concentrations of Ni were investigated. It was found that the absorption edge of the nanostructures shifted slightly towards longer wavelength and an additional absorption band appeared at 440 nm upon Ni doping. The synthesized nanostructures exhibited reverse saturable absorption and negative nonlinearities under the continuous wave laser. The measured third order nonlinear optical susceptibility was approximately 10-6 esu, indicating that the nonlinear optical characteristics of the nanostructures could be controlled by Ni doping and making them a potential candidate for optical device applications.

Summary: The study focuses on the properties and structure of a newly synthesized azo compound containing an antipyrine moiety, including electronic structure, vibrational frequencies, and nonlinear optical characteristics. A linear correlation between the Mulliken atomic charge of oxygen atoms and calculated wavenumbers was observed, combining experimental results and theoretical calculations. Optical properties of the compound were investigated using spectroscopic techniques, with numerically simulated diffraction ring patterns showing reasonable agreement with experimental findings.

Nonlinear optical properties of two-dimensional palladium ditelluride (PdTe2 ) and its application as aerosol jet printed saturable absorbers for broadband ultrafast photonics

Ping Kwong Cheng et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) PdTe2 exhibits excellent nonlinear optical properties and can be widely used in applications such as superconductors, phototransistors, and millimeter-wave receivers. Broadband PdTe2-based saturable absorbers (SA) prepared by aerosol jet printing (AJP) enable the generation of broadband ultrafast laser pulses in the near-to-mid-infrared regime, demonstrating the potential of PdTe2 as an ideal material for ultrafast photonics devices.

Improved photocatalytic and antibacterial performance of Cr doped TiO2 nanoparticles

C. Gomez-Polo et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of Cr and N doping on the properties of TiO2 anatase nanoparticles, including adsorption capacity, photocatalytic performance, and antibacterial response. Doping with Cr and Cr/N enhances adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance, with Cr-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibiting antibacterial activity under visible light. The differences in electrostatic charge and nanoparticle dispersion are suggested as the main reasons for the varied antibacterial response among the doped nanoparticles.
