Understanding breast cancer as a global health concern

Louise Wilkinson et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world, with a strong correlation to human development. Survival rates are lower in less developed regions, leading to global disparities. In order to address this urgent global health challenge, the World Health Organization has launched a new Global Breast Cancer Initiative, aiming to improve survival rates worldwide through health promotion, timely diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment and supportive care.

Circ_0008039 supports breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis by regulating the miR-140-3p/SKA2 axis

Dongwei Dou et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that downregulation of circ_0008039 suppressed breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis by regulating the miR-140-3p/SKA2 axis. The findings provide an important theoretical basis for the treatment of breast cancer.

circ_0002346 Suppresses Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Progression Depending on the Regulation of the miR-582-3p/STXBP6 Axis

Weijie Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that circ_0002346 was downregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines, and its overexpression inhibited the malignant properties of NSCLC cells by inducing apoptosis and suppressing proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis. Furthermore, circ_0002346 acted as a sponge for miR-582-3p to upregulate the expression of STXBP6, leading to tumor suppression both in vitro and in vivo.

miR-17-5p and miR-4443 Promote Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Development by Targeting TIMP2

Xiaojun Wang et al.

Summary: The study identified that miR-17-5p and miR-4443 are upregulated in ESCC tissues and promote tumor progression by regulating the TIMP2 gene. These two miRNAs may serve as novel molecular targets for ESCC treatment.

Hsa_circ_0042823 accelerates cancer progression via miR-877-5p/FOXM1 axis in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma

Tianyi Wu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the hsa_circ_0042823/miR-877-5p/FOXM1 axis is involved in the progression of LSCC. Hsa_circ_0042823 accelerates cancer progression by regulating the miR-877-5p/FOXM1 axis in LSCC. Inhibition of hsa_circ_0042823 impedes the growth of LSCC tumors through the miR-877-5p/FOXM1 axis.
